24 hr Spinathon
Moneygall GAA will hold a 24 hr Spinathon from 9am on Dec 23rd to 9am on Dec 24th at the Barack Obama Plaza! All funds raised will go towards preparing our Intermediate and Junior Panels, as well as implementing structures for future player development. All support would be greatly appreciated in the build up to the day when our players will embark on this gruelling challenge! St Stephen’s Day: Our
Annual Charity Walk will take place on St Stephen’s Day, starting in the GAA
Grounds at 12 noon. All proceeds raised will go towards our local parish Social
Services group. All are welcome. Player’s Meeting: A meeting for all adult players will be held in the Séamus Ó Riain Centre on Friday 5th January to outline plans for 2018. All players are asked to attend. Christmas Lotto: The third set of our bonus Christmas prizes were drawn last week, and the winners were: Turkey – Conor Ryan; Ham – Joe Moloney; Whiskey – Rebecca Johnston; Biscuits – Eamon Egan; Sweets – Diarmuid Kennedy; Red Wine – Ryan Girls, Brownstown; White Wine – Johnny Kirwan. Many thanks to all our lotto players and promoters for your continued support. Fundraiser: Tickets for the National GAA Club Draw are now available from our club committee members for €10 each. Juvenile News: Well done to Sean Kenneally and Cathal Greene who received their Under 14 Inter-Divisional hurling tournament medals last Friday night. Both were members of the North Tipperary U14 team that won the competition back in April. It has been a good year for the lads, with Cathal being part of the County U14 Football squad and Sean being part of the County U14 Hurling squad. Both are again part of the North Tipperary U14 hurling panel that are currently competing in the Inter-Divisional competition. Well done lads. Congratulations also to Vanston Worrell and James Carroll who were selected for the North Tipperary U13 Squad that are currently competing for the Inter-Divisional title. Club Merchandise: A new range of O’Neill’s
playing gear and supporters’ wear is now available to order. The range includes
hoodies, tracksuits, jackets and hats and can be viewed on our club facebook
page. Orders can be placed with Colette Toohey (087 7770821). Orders must be
placed by this Sunday, 5th November, to guarantee delivery in time for
Christmas. Draw Launch: Moneygall GAA is
taking part in the National GAA Club Draw and this will be our main club
fundraiser this Winter. All proceeds from this draw will go towards the
development of our second field. Tickets are €10 each, and €50 for a book of 5
tickets. There are 20 prizes nationally, with a top prize of a new Renault
Dynamique. All prizes can be seen on our club facebook page. There will also be
a draw for Moneygall club entries, with 5 prizes of €200 each.The draw was launched in the GAA Centre last Thursday night by our local Derby winning trainer Paddy Guilfoyle. Our thanks to Paddy, Sandra, Alice and Donie who represented the Guilfoyle family on the night, and who also brought along the Derby winner Good News to the event. Draw tickets are now available from committee members, and we will also be contacting club members and local households in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support. Scór na nÓg: The North Final of Scór na nÓg will take place on 17th November. This competition is for competitors aged under 17 on 1/1/2018. Competitions include figure dancing, solo singing, recitation, ballad group, stage presentation, instrumental music, set dancing and table quiz. If interested please contact John Bolger asap to complete the entry requirements. Séamus Ó Riain: The Séamus Ó Riain Cup Final replay between Roscrea and Toomevara has been rescheduled for this Sunday afternoon in St Flannan’s Park. Throw-in time is fixed for 2pm. Séamus Ó Riain: Our club will host the Séamus Ó Riain
Cup Final this Sunday afternoon, when our two neighbouring clubs Roscrea and
Toomevara will travel to St Flannan’s Park for their replay. Throw-in time is
fixed for 2.30pm. Best of luck to both teams. Under 21: Moneygall/Clonakenny
will play Borris-Ileigh in the last match of group 2 of the north championship.
With both teams having already lost to Kiladangan this match will decide who
finishes in second place. Reunion:
On Saturday 28th October our club will hold a reunion of players who
represented the club during the 1940s, 50s and 60s in the Rackett Hall Hotel in
Roscrea. The event will get underway at 7.30pm, with a four course meal being
served at 8pm. All former players and their partners are invited to attend. Tickets
for the night will cost €25 per person, please contact chairman Pat Sheedy (086
1024660) or secretary Kevin Maher (087 2795405) to book your tickets. The hotel
has also offered a special B&B rate of €50 per person for anybody attending,
