Our Under 16 hurlers travelled to St. Patrick’s in Drangan last Saturday to take part in the Mary Moroney Cup.  This four-team tournament was arranged following the presentation of a memorial trophy by the Toohey family Moneygall to the St. Patrick's club in memory of the late Mary Moroney.

The tournament involved teams from Anner Gaels
(St. Patrick’s and Fethard amalgamation), Moneygall, Gortnahoe Glengoole and Silvermines.  We were beaten by the host club Anner Gaels in the semi final.  We then played Gortnahoe Glengoole in the shield final which we lost by a point, 2-8 to 3-4.

Many thanks to the Moroney and Toohey families and the St. Patrick’s club for the invitation to this tournament.  It was good preparation for the upcoming north championship which begins in early July
