Moneygall began the 2013 North Tipperary senior hurling championship with defeat to Kilruane MacDonaghs in Dolla last Saturday afternoon.  The first half was a tight affair with the lead changing hands on a few occasions.  Moneygall led 0-8 to 0-6 late in the half when Kilruane struck for their first goal to help them into a one point lead at half time, 1-7 to 0-9.

Kilruane then dominated the third quarter of the match and opened up an eight point gap, 2-12 to 0-10.  Moneygall introduced Eoghan Ryan, Padhraic Greene, Cathal Kennedy and Brian Teehan, and Eoin Greene's goal helped reduce the arrears.  But Kilruane kept the scoreboard ticking over and won in the end by 2-16 to 1-13.

In Saturday's other Group 3 match Kildangan and Nenagh Eire Og drew 1-14 to 0-17.  Moneygall's next game will be against Nenagh Eire Og this Sunday evening at 5.30pm in Cloughjordan, and Kildangan will play Portroe in the other group match this weekend.
