Our senior hurlers were beaten by Mullinahone by 2-23 to 3-13 (after extra time) in the quarter final of the Dr Fogarty Cup in Mullinahone on Sunday.  Moneygall started the game brightly but a poor second quarter saw us trail at half time by 0-7 to 0-5.

Three second half goals, scored by Paddy Fogarty, Ger Kirwan and Anthony Devereux, put Moneygall in a strong position and we led by 3-10 to 0-15 going into the closing minutes.  Mullinahone were then awarded a penalty which was saved by Ciaran Quinlan, but following the subsequent clearance the ball was returned to the square and scrambled into the net.  Mullinahone then added a point to force extra time.

In the first period of extra time Moneygall lost Ger Ryan to injury, the fourth defender to be forced off following earlier injuries to Michael Kirwan, Phil Fanning and Willie Greene.  Mullinahone were awarded another penalty which was again saved by Ciaran Quinlan, but a goal late in the half gave them a four point lead at the break, 2-18 to 3-11.  They then outscored Moneygall by 0-5 to 0-2 in the second period to record a 2-23 to 3-13 win.
