Our senior hurlers qualified for the Jim Devitt Cup Final when they beat Silvermines in Dolla on Sunday morning last.  The early exchanges were fairly even, until midway through the first half when Stephen Maher set up Eamonn McCormack for a Moneygall goal which helped open up a four point lead.  Silvermines narrowed the gap minutes later with a goal but Moneygall finished the half well to lead 1-11 to 1-4 at half time.  Moneygall lost Michael Cahill to injury just before the break.

Silvermines started the second half strongly scoring 1-1 to close the gap to three points.  Moneygall steadied again, and Willie Greene’s goal at the three quarter stage put them seven clear.  In the last quarter Silvermines pressed for goals but Moneygall’s defence held out, and Ciaran Quinlan who operated at full forward in the second half scored Moneygall’s third goal to seal the win.
