News Update 14/3/16

posted 15 Mar 2016, 12:11 by Moneygall GAA
Senior: Our senior team were beaten by Drom Inch by 0-19 to 0-11 in the first round of the County Challenge Cup on Sunday last.  We will now play Clonakenny in the second round, on Sunday 27th in Clonakenny.

Under 21: Well done to the Moneygall/Clonakenny footballers who have qualified for the North U21B Final, after beating Templederry/Ballinahinch by 2-10 to 1-3 last Sunday afternoon.

Under 12: Our U12 footballers recorded two wins against Burgess in the B and D championships last Saturday evening in Moneygall.  We have just one match this Saturday, away to Lorrha in the B championship.

Club Plan: Our Five Year Club Plan 2016-2020 was officially unveiled in the Séamus Ó Riain Centre last Wednesday night.  Thanks to all our guest speakers – County Chairman Michael Bourke, County Development Officer PJ Maher, and especially to former Moneygall and Tipperary hurler John Gleeson, who officially launched the Plan.  It was also great to see two of the victorious Moneygall Intermediate team of 1949 in attendance, Gerry Maher and Joe Hayes.  Anybody who would like a copy of the Plan can contact any of the club officers, and it will also soon be available to view on our website.

Volunteers: A big thanks to everyone who provided refreshments or who helped out with organising or catering for any of our recent events – our Club Plan launch, the minor team presentation night, Br. Jimmy Gleeson’s month’s mind mass, and our recent senior challenge matches.

First Aid Course: We had 14 people in attendance for the first night of our First Aid Course with instructor Ollie Hayes last Thursday night.  The second half of the course will be delivered on Wednesday 23rd March, starting at 8pm.

Black & Red Golf Society: The Black & Red Society will have its first outing of 2016 this Saturday afternoon in Roscrea G.C.  The tee has been reserved from 12.40pm to 2pm, please contact Tom Byrne to book your slot.  The society is now in its 25th year and best of luck to this year’s captain Willie Greene.  The remainder of the 2016 schedule is: Portumna (April 16), New Forest (May 28), Nenagh (July 2), Dunmurray (August 13), and Thurles (September 24).
Congratulations to Damien Martin who recently beat Donal Doughan in the final of the 2015 Honeymount Cup matchplay competition.

Lotto: Our jackpot has now reached €8000 for this week's draw in Ollie's Bar.  You can buy your tickets for just €2 each through the Club Lotto section of our website.  Many thanks to all our lotto players and promoters for your continued support.
