News Update 14/8/17

posted 14 Aug 2017, 11:57 by Moneygall GAA
Intermediate: Moneygall beat Roscrea by 1-23 to 0-16 in Cloughjordan last Saturday evening to qualify for the knockout stages of the county championship. We now await details of the North Final fixture against either Ballinahinch or Shannon Rovers, who play their semi final this weekend.

Junior: We will play Ballinahinch in our next group match in the north championship. This game is fixed for Saturday 26th in St Flannan’s Park at 7pm.

Minor: Well done to our minor hurlers who beat Burgess by 4-10 to 2-13 in Kilcolman last week. We now play Portroe this Thursday evening at 7pm in Portroe, in the last match of the round robin stages.  The top four teams in the final standings will qualify for the semi finals.

Under 16: Moneygall/Clonakenny were due to play Newport on Monday evening in the last round of the group phase of the north championship. The results of this round will determine the semi final pairings – see our website for an update.

Juvenile News:
We will host our annual juvenile hurling tournaments in the coming weeks. The proposed date for the Joe Donnelly U12 Tournament is Saturday 26th August, with the Tim Liffey U14 Tournament to follow in September.
We brought 20 players, as well as coaches and parents to Croke Park last Sunday week. The players had a very enjoyable day out, but unfortunately not with the result we wanted. Training continues on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm for our underage groups.

Juvenile Shields: The North U13 Shield competition is due to begin on Wednesday 23rd August. The North U11 Shield competition is scheduled to start on Friday 18th August, and will continue on Friday evenings for the following weeks.

Under 10: Well done to our U10 players who put in a terrific day of hurling at the Billy Nevin Cup in Birr on Saturday 5th August. Following a busy day of action with games against Birr, Clough Ballacolla and Portumna our lads reached the final against Portumna. After a great match the teams were level at full time, before Portumna edged it after extra time on a 0-4 to 0-2 scoreline. Well done to all involved on the day.

Lotto: Our jackpot has now reached €4400. You can buy your tickets for just €2 each through the Club Lotto section of our website. Many thanks to all our lotto players and promoters for your continued support.
