Under 12s Win Joe Donnelly Tournament

The Joe Donnelly Under 12 Tournament took place on Saturday last in St Flannan's Park and was a great success and offered up some great hurling.  Moneygall started the morning off with a one point victory over Templederry in the first semi-final.  This was a great win for Moneygall reversing the result on Templederry who Moneygall lost to in the North Championship semi-final.

Kinnitty took on Ballyskenagh/Killavilla in the second semi-final with Kinnitty proving too strong.  Templederry then took on Skenagh/Villa in the Shield Final and despite a very good second half performance by Skenagh/Villa, Templederry ran out victors.

Moneygall then took on a strong Kinnitty side in the Cup final.  Kinnitty led at half time with a lead of 0-3 to 0-0.  Moneygall rallied in the second half with two well finished goals and survived a nervous last few minutes to claim another one point victory 2-0 to 0-5, and lift the Joe Donnelly Cup for the first time, after winning the shield final the previous year.

Congratulations to all the team and mentors on two great performances on the day and thanks to Tom, Kevin, Majella, Noel and Damien for all their work in preparing everything so well on the day.

Thanks to all those who helped with catering on the day and to everyone who provided sandwiches and buns.  Thanks to Michael Sullivan for having the pitch in great condition and lined especially for the tournament.  Thanks to Sandra Quinlan for taking photographs, to Ger Hogan who engraved all the medals, and to Pat Murray and Philip Bergin (Roscrea) for refereeing and their umpires.

Thanks to Pat Donnelly and his wife Alison who traveled from Killeigh to make the presentations of trophies.  Finally, thanks to Kinnitty, Templederry and Ballyskenagh/Killavilla for taking part and for making it such a thrilling days hurling.
